Markesan Annual Banquet - 09/13/10

Founded in 1980, the Markesan Chapter is celebrating their 28th year of wildlife conservation.
This year the chapter had several accomplishments. They include:
* Co-funded the purchase and planting of approximately 4,000 trees and shrubs.
* Sponsored scholarships to 6 area high school seniors.
* Helped develop and co-sponsored several winter cover and nesting cover projects with area property owners.
* Supported local hunter safety courses.
* Co-sponsored a youth pheasant hunt for young hunters that are willing to help WOW achieve their goals. This is done in conjunction with Mecan River Outfitters, Lone Oak Shooting Preserve, Robby Webster and volunteer help from our board members and dog trainers.
* Co-sponsored with the help of the Puchyan Longbeards and the National Wild Turkey Federation the planting and fertilizing of 1,400 acres of food plots.
We would especially like to recognize John Polcyn from Lone oak Shooting Preserve, Paul Harvey from Mecan River Outfitters, and Rob Webster from Pick n Save in Ripon. For the past five years, these gentlemen have gone above and beyond to support the youth pheasant hunt that the chapter has every year. With their generous support, Wings Over Wisconsin has been able to introduce many young adults to the joy and challenges of upland bird hunting. |
